ITINERARY

| Day 1 - Arrival Arrival at the Juan Santamaria International Airport in Costa Rica. You will be picked up at the airport by your bilingual guide and friendly driver. In a private tourist bus you will be droven to your hotel for the night. (hotel included) Day 2 - Arenal 1 day tour Located north of Costa Rica, the impressive Arenal Volcano is a natural phenomenon that attracts thousands and thousands of tourists due to its permanent, extraordinary and trusted volcanic activity, which on clear nights can seem like fireworks with intermittent explosions of ash and lava. In order to get to this wonder from nature we must go to the north of the country, and inevitably we must make a stop in the famous town of Sarchi, of international fame, it has earned the name Birthplace of Costa Rica’s Artisans. As we continue our trip we will go thru diverse plantations with agricultural products, ornamental plants and cattle ranches until we arrive at La Fortuna, for lunch in a cozy restaurant right in front of the volcano. This excellent location will allow us the best view in order to catch any volcanic activity. Before entering the beautiful gardens where the thermal springs are located we will visit Arenal Lake. Here we can easily walk on a road next to the Park where we will look for toucans, monkeys and other animals. Due to security reasons we will not enter the park. Later we will relax in one of the best thermal water places in the area. Last, a wonderful dinner will be served with a great view of the volcano so you will not miss any opportunities to look out for the incandescent light explosions. After dinner we will begin our return trip to the city of San Jose. (breakfast, lunch, dinner, entrance fees, hotel included)
Day 3 - South Caribbean, Puerto Viejo de Limón (breakfast, hotel included) Day 4 - South Caribbean, enjoy the beach! (breakfast, hotel included) Day 5 - North Caribbean, Canales de Tortuguero Located 800 meters from where the Pacuare River meets the Caribbean Sea, in front of the Madre de Dios Lagoon, Jungla Tropical Lodge introduces a new alternative to the popular town of Tortuguero. Guest accommodations are integrated with the environment. The views of the pristine Pacuare river and primary tropical forest are magnificent. The Lodge’s guest rooms, in low-rise, duplex cabinas stand at the edge of the primary forest, just 100 meters from the banks of the tranquil river. Jungla Tropical Lodge’s remote location and environmentally-friendly architecture creates an authentic Costa Rican tropical jungle experience. Beach access is just a 2-minutes jaunt accross the river combined with a 5 minute walk to the ocean. In the afternoon enjoy a boat ride with your naturalist guide through the primary and secondary channels, spotting and observing birds, monkeys, lizards, crocodiles, turtles and other marine wildlife. This tour will take your breath away as you are amazed by the miror of the lagoon.... Evening activities include night tours on the beach, socializing in the bar, or just relaxing in the peaceful tranquility of our guest rooms in the jungle. Day 6 - North Caribbean, Canales de Tortuguero Start your day with a morning greeting from the Howler Monkeys that call the Pacuare River their home. After breakfast, take a hike through Las Tortugas Biological Reserve. After a cold shower, we start our return to San José. Along the way we enjoy a complete lunch. (breakfast, boat transportation, guide, hike in the Biological Reserve Pacuare, entrance fees, lunch, hotel included)
Day 7 - Poás Volcano and Canopy tour We take the Pan-American Highway towards the city of Alajuela. In route we go by the Agriculture Monument, the Monument to Juan Santamaria and the famous Mango Park. As we ascend towards the volcano we stop for a brief explanation on our golden bean, coffee, and then continue our trip through fern, flower and strawberry farms. There is a noticeable change in temperature and vegetation, preparing us for the pleasure of the exuberant cloud forest of Poas Volcano. At the Volcano we will have time to observe the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles. Then we will hike on a trail to the beautiful Botos Lagoon that will allow us to learn about the different ecosystems in the park. We will continue our trip the Poas Canopy Tour, one of the most popular adventure tours. With 24 platforms in the major trees, an extraordinary trail has been designed above the canopy forest. The tour, of approximately 2 hours, is an experience filled with excitement and joy, in which the you experience a journey through the treetops on 14 cables suspended high above the jungle trails, with the help and under the supervision of highly qualified and professional guides. This exciting adventure ends when you glide down on an impressive 1980-feet length cable. After this exciting tour you will enjoy a delicious lunch, before we begin our return trip to San Jose. Day 8 - Departure... After breakfast, unfortunately the time has come to say goodbye... at least for now.... (transportation, breakfast included) |
