Students

Students from mid-level education, professional studies to University Graduates need to work at a company to practice their skills and learn first hand work experience in a professional environment. The market place is getting more and more internationally orientated, which is why international internships are being encouraged. ¡CATCH! JOB CENTER understands this need all to well and offers students and/or recent graduates over 20 years old, of all professions, the possibility to widen their horizon with a work opportunity in Costa Rica.

The Companies

Costa Rican companies include hotels, resorts, lodges, travel agencies, tour operators, government departments, factories, institutions, multinationals, farmers, environmental institutions, industrial concerns, trading firms, etc.     All companies have been screened.

Internship posibilities

           1.    Working Internship
This internship is mostly taken in the first years of education. The student needs to work in a suitable company in an everyday routine to practice his/her skills and to learn as much as possible from professionals around them. For some part the work may also include tasks that are not completely related to his/her education, in other words: exposure to a variety of working experiences adds to the experience.

           2.    Graduating Internships (or Research Internships)
This option is built around a specific subject, which the student needs to explore "in depth" and write a profound thesis about. As such the student needs to work as much as possible on the subject and the employer dedicates more time to sharing experiences and ideas with the intern. It is naturally that the intern can be less involved in the daily tasks of the company, as he/she needs more time for research and writing the thesis.

Work Permit

By Costa Rican law all foreign interns or (temporal) workers are required to apply for a work permit.

Upon arrival in Costa Rica you will be accompanied by one of our agents to the downtown Police Station to get your fingerprints taken. After this, you will be taken back to our office to fill in the required paperwork and from here on we’ll take care of the submission.

As soon as you have filled in the required paperwork, you will be given a declaration with which you are able to start work at the company - legally, without any migratory problems. Immigration Office can take up to 6 weeks to stamp your passport.

Please make sure you get the next requirements ready before departure to Costa Rica:
-    Declaration of good conduct, certified by the Costa Rican Consul in your country of origin
-    6 passport size photos (black/ white or color)

Please check the validity of your passport - Your passport has to be valid at least 6 months after arrival. However, if you are going to stay longer in Costa Rica, please renew your passport before departure to avoid local renewal complications.
