| Hotel Villas Gaia is situated where the mountains come down
to the sea in the region called Fila Costeña. This biologically
diverse region is surrounded by some of Costa Rica's most famous
natural attractions: the vast wilderness of Corcovado National Park,
the protected waters of Ballena Marine Park, Caño Island and the
Rio Terraba- Sierpe extensive mangrove ecosystem. The region is a bird watcher's paradise (450 counted species!!!) and has one of Central America's last stands of magnificent coastal rain forest. Miles of deserted beaches to the north offer abundant opportunities for swimming, surfing, kayaking and exploring. There is no 'touristy' atmosphere and the impression of down-to-earth living and community- wide friendliness can be felt travelers wanting a real cultural experience. Visitors of Ojochal are privileged to partake in community soccer games and are warmly welcomed at the local bar. International cuisine is easily found at the quaint restaurants in the village. |
